My People is a seven tribe nation of no face dolls that are originals of Linda RainsOn Rous. They are her creation referencing a combination of Iroquois no face, corn husk dolls and the Hopi Kachina.
No Face: What is in your heart is more important than how you look.
Published in Art Doll Quarterly
My People wooden dolls are taken from the history, tradition and folklore of all Native American tribes; "All My Relatives", to create a nation of it's own tribes: The Tree Ornament tribe, Cradle Doll Tribe, Worry Dolls, Shorties, Skinnies, Maiden-Spirit-Warrior Tribe and the Princess-Chief Tribe. You will also find the "Lost" tribe that will exhibit various deviations from the aforementioned seven tribes. It is a bit of a "catch-all" that welcomes everyone who is different.

Then, of course, there are the Grandmothers who have all the power behind the scenes. These silver haired women of honor have the power to elect or dispose chiefs and hold the power over the sentence of life or death. They are a little girl's best friend because they are the keepers of secrets.
Welcome to my studio. Come on in, sit down and I'll put on the tea kettle. You can meet My People or view the Life of A Mad Artist album; just click titles at the top of the page. I am self taught and have been a professional artist since the age of 17; about 54 years. Semi - retired from traveling as a gypsy artist creating classic oil paintings and portraits, I spend my "retirement" creating hand carved, Native American Indian dolls in my home studio.
